It all began in Francastel in Picardie, in the post-war period. Pierre Gallois, a mattress maker by trade, designed his first canvas tents for personal use and custom orders. At the time, camping textiles were highly popular. Pierre Gallois shifted his focus from manufacturing and decided to sell certain brands. He displayed them in his garden, and the success was immediate.

In 1952, Pierre and Simone Gallois established their company, Gallois Oise-Camping, and expanded their business with the introduction of caravans. From distribution and repairs to towbar installation, the biggest brands came on board: Digue, Antem, Gruau, Sterckeman, Caravelair… Gallois is still the oldest distributor of the Rapido brand, a partnership that began with the first folding caravans invented by Constant Rousseau.
Gallois Oise-Camping thrived during the 1960s and 1970s, a period of leisure democratization and the rise of free time. Distribution intensified, and the business quickly expanded to include motorhomes. Sorel and Franc trailers, Silver and Raclet caravans were joined by the CI and Hobby brands. Building on these solid foundations, Pierre Gallois passed the torch to his three children in 1986.
Gallois Oise-Camping experienced significant growth in the 2000s. A second concession specializing in the sale of mobile homes was opened in Rue, near the Bay of Somme. In 2002, both locations joined the Idylcar network. Gallois Oise-Camping could now rely on the synergies of this group and offer their customers nationally negotiated warranties and services.
In 2005, a new building was constructed in Francastel. An additional 400 square meters were dedicated to the maintenance and repair workshop and after-sales service. The following year, the accessories store joined the Narbonne Accessoires network. Always on the move, the concession recently expanded the workshop and strengthened the technical teams.
In 2007, Alexandre Secq, Pierre Gallois’ grandson, joined the company, which he now manages. In 2017, he fulfilled his grandfather’s dream by opening a campsite, Le Pré Saint-Gilles, in Blangy-sur-Ternoise. As Gallois Oise-Camping approaches its 70th anniversary (1952-2022), the same passion for leisure drives this family-owned business for three generations.
